Midrand Camera Club
Newsletter - August 2013
Hi Everyone
Hope you are all well and looking forward to our next Meeting on 21 August at our normal time and place (19:00 at Nikon in Midrand).
It has been quite hectic for me since my return from the Arctic, trying to reconnect with night and day instead of 24 hour daylight, plus ploughing through the 5000 images I took and not being very good at deleting. An Expedition of a Lifetime for my husband and I, one we will remember and talk about for years to come. Anyway we all need to get back to the realities in our life after these experiences.
Photovault is open for your entries – Open Entries to be in by Wednesday 14 August and the Set Subject Entries to be in by Saturday 17 August. The Set Subject, as detailed in our programme was "Dogs and Children" but I have spoken to Ria, our presenter and judge for the even and she confirmed that it can be "Dogs and/or Children" – your choice.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Our AGM will take place at the beginning of our September Meeting on 18 September, positions that we would like to include on our Committee are an Editor for an e-newsletter and also we would love to have a website so need a Webmaster on Board. The present Committee are committed to continuing for another year to take Midrand forward. It has been a good year for Midrand with very positiveness coming from many areas in the photographic fraternity. Please contact me to let me know if you feel you could be of assistance in a particular area. Elsie has taken on the position of the Membership Portfolio and is busy setting it up at present. Please come to the AGM with suggestions, queries, ideas for outings and workshops with the furtherance of the Club and its members in mind.
Nico, Francois and I chose from all the images that have been entered since Midrand started for the PSSA Interclub Competition, the winners of which will be announced at Congress. This is the Competition for all the Clubs in South Africa. If time prevails we will try and show our entry at our August Club Night.
We will be looking at going HD for our images but probably only from the start of our year in January, we need to see how Nikon’s new projector is functioning in this regard.
Thank you to Francois for running the Club in July and from all reports it was a lovely evening and Garth’s presentation was very well received and his judging was also applauded.
I look forward to seeing you all in August and get your entries in ASAP and as always I look forward to experiencing all your work.
Evelyn.
