Special International AV Festival

Midrand Camera Club agreed to host part of this Special International AV Festival (it is being held the week end before at Paternoster for the whole weekend) but it was felt that for the Regions up here, it would be nice to have the opportunity to experience and share this Festival, albeit a smaller version of it and also for the benefit of all AV enthusiasts in our Region.

This event will take place at the Nikon premises in the Midstream area - the home of Midrand and AFO Club evenings.

Registration and tea and coffee will be from 8:00 onward  The programme will commence at 9:00, lunch will be served at 12:30 and tea and coffee in the afternoon. The programme will conclude at 16:00.

The cost for the day will be R100 per person, payable on the day, but it is EXTREMELY ESSENTIAL that you inform Evelyn Gibson (evelyng@mwebbiz.co.za) before 15 June at the latest if you will be attending for catering purposes.

This type of event is extremely inspiring and encouraging when you see the work being done in this media from all over the world.

VSS Master Class

VSS is running a masterclass photo workshop on dance and movement.

This is a full day event (9:00 to 21:00) concerned with four creative aspects of photography, each with a practical studio and models.

Synopsis of four guided practicals are:
  • The Movement: Techniques with rear and front sync, including using pop up flash; in big dance hall with live band and professional dancers. Dances will range from classic ballet to modern ballroom.
  • The Portrait: Inspired by Nick Night, we will create post modern retro portrait shoot with great models, unique lighting and flagging, and off course super make up by one of the best (Charmaine Buttrick).
  • Real Time Lighting: The spot light of the big screen and Barbara Morgan, Gordon Anthony and our very own Theana Breugem will inspire us.
  • Action: History gave us the best in action and dance starting wiht Munkacsi, Richard Avedon and today LaChappelle. Dedicated areas on the estate for catching action with real time as well as flash assisted photography with dancers and jumpers alike (almost forgot to mention Halsman jumpers).
